It’s getting to be about that time! Well actually its pretty much a season... I just got my studio light and am looking to shoot family portraits for those who need a decent shot of their family Christmas pictures. Most of the time people have an idea of what they want their pictures to look like: some great background (maybe a favorite place outdoors, or by the fireplace, someplace rustic, or maybe some props they can have to add a certain mood or portray an idea with their...

It's not everyday that you get to photograph a wedding of someone you have grown up with. I've been blessed to have been able to work with so many brides and grooms that I have had the privilege of seeing grow up to become the men and women that they are. When Monica Asked me to shoot her wedding, I jumped on it! I feel like every time I take my camera out I seem to improve and take more and more shots that I have always wanted to have in my portfolio. We got some amazing shots from...

I had the opportunity to do a last minute shoot with a friend who will be heading off to college. Recently I have been getting a lot of people who want to schedule family, modeling, and portrait sessions. Most of the time a person will suggest something that sounds fine until they realize that a photographer sees a situation from a much different perspective. One of the main things about photography would be to understand your camera; the next would probably be to understand light. There are a handful of light sources...

I‘ve known these two for well about as long as they have been together which has been well let’s just put it this way, they’re high school sweethearts. I was setting up the poses and allowing my fellow photographer Robert Wright get the main images, I tried to get a bit of everything and be the behind the scenes photographer. When you do a couples shoot I like to do a few things that I tend to focus on when I’m...

Are you trying to start acting or a modeling career but don’t know how? The first thing you will always need is a solid portfolio/headshot. It’s your visual resume, your ticket into showing modeling agencies your talent and versatility, and your headshots are to communicate virtually the same thing for film or theater. I’ve seen plenty of model’s portfolios, and sometimes I wonder if they thought about the quality of the images they have chosen to display… A good...

Yea a day and a month late and a dollar short, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t give you some basic tips for shooting fireworks!
These past few weeks my friends and I have been trying to take care some awesome leftover fireworks from the more important 4th of July. We lit up the night the way our forefathers wanted, (what a great way to celebrate whoever thought of this!). The MOST IMPORTANT thing in Photography is always “Light.” The better that you can understand light...

In a society where we count a pet as half a kid (I.E. family of 4.5), it’s plain to see that animals play a large role in society (shoot pretty soon I’m pretty sure they’ll have enough rights to vote!). But capturing an animal in its environment even simpler your own pet, it can be challenging if you don’t know where to start.
The great thing about shooting nature is that if you don’t think the plant is green enough, you can saturate it a bit more in post-production....

Yes folks…. Its true… I love my car! I have a few car shoots that I’ll be shooting this year, but I decided I’d get a few of my beautiful car Leila (she’s so photogenic!). I asked my friend Arianna to pose with the car, which I think she did well due to the circumstances. This shoot is a little more difficult, when you want to shoot a person its something u can adjust (normally) but to get and out of a car and to find a background that adds another form...

Normally I try to bring some insight into how I shoot my session instead I’m going to give you a bit insight into my start.
This is actually an older shoot from earlier this year; it has a back-story to it that I think is really something that happened in my life that I don’t think I can forget. Coming into this shoot I was totally shaken and nervous before I got there, if I had an ounce of courage it was slowly slipping away as I drove an hour to get to this place. I won’t get into too many details...

I have recently had the privilege to connect with a fellow photographer Jeremy Chou. He was able to take a few minutes out of busy schedule to answer a few questions from me. I hope that his answers can help a few of those out who are learning about photography as well as inspire others. Jeremy has recently had his work published at www.utterlyengaged.com. Congrats Jeremy!
