Couples & Families

January Family Portraits Giveaway

I said that big things were in store in 2012 and I wasn’t kidding! Life is about giving back and this month I want to honor and bring family to the forefront of people’s minds. Family are usually the ones that will be in your corner even when it seems like nobody’s there. A family will be there to fight your battles when the world’s on your shoulders. Family knows you better than anyone else, and family should treat you better than anyone else. We don’t choose them and we don’t have a choice, but they are our family and its not so much the similarities (because let’s face it…...

I Left My Heart & Found My Love In San Francisco…

For Full Album Click Photo: Destination Engagement: S.F., a photo by fhfotos on Flickr. I just shot an engagement in S.F. and I’m super Mclovin’ these images!!! The couple really wanted to get some crazy colors, and I really love how this little excursion turned out! The look is rocker meets the good girl. They were such a great couple plus I got to play with the colors, which can be a nice change of pace from my more natural images. I really got to play a lot more with the landscape in this where usually I have that as background that tends to get lost in many of my images, but with so many...

I’ve been really busy..but I wanted to take the time to thank all the moms out there that dealt with our whining, put up with our complaining, encouraged us when we were broken, Loved us when we were rejected, disciplined us when we were fools, It’s because of your love that we honor you today. The love of a mother always seems to amaze me… thanks for raising us up the best you could with what you had to work with somehow knowing...

You Get What You Pay For

For Full Album Click The Photo! Delilah a photo by fhfotos on Flickr. Full Slideshow Click Here! There’s one thing that always seems to change nearly anyone’s mood and that’s a baby smiling. I think one of the joys in life is the chance to see your child grow and develop to be the person that they are today. That’s where I come in. especially at a young age your child develops and goes through so many changes in the first few years of your life that it seems like they are changing every single moment on you at times. I know plenty of couples that went into Picture People and took...

2011 Here We Come!

It's been almost one year since I truly started off this "photography thing" and I can't believe how much I was able to do in a year! I was able to: shoot for the largest fashion show in the west coast, photography a handful of weddings, travel to haiti and photo-journal my experience, work with a few dozen models, be ringside of a muay thai competition, capture amazing portraits of couples, families, and children, post a handful of photography and so much more!  I went from just a few hundred views a month on this site to on average about 1,000± views a month and hope to continue in that trend...

Life’s a boomerang… expect it to come back around.

For the Full Album click the Photo: Monica Engagement Shoot Originally uploaded by fhfotos Have you ever seen a Quentin Tarantino Film where you are taken thru a labyrinth of storylines that seem to all inter-connect and end in a way you least expect it? Well if you haven’t seen "Pulp Fiction" you may wanna take a look…. Or just see" Sin City" or "Crash" and you’ll see that as crazy as this can be our lives seem to take turns at times where we find ourselves in places and with people that we probably didn’t expect to see or talk to in for cliché terms “a million years.” It’s...

Rustic & Refined: An Engagement Session

For the Full Album click the Photo: Jenee and Joe Engagement Click here for Slideshow! I have been trying to catch up from my back-to-back-to-back photo shoots. I must say that this shoot was pretty exciting! Normally, for an engagement shoot, I have a few styles of how I will shoot these. The first style would be more photojournalistic. For example, I would follow the couple and take photos from an organic standpoint (the event from my perspective mostly un-posed). The other style would be that I would take them to some place where I would pose them and get some stellar images. This shoot...

Capturing The Moments of Your Child

For the Full Album click the Photo: Keziah's Expressions (B&W) Click here for Slideshow! I recently purchased a new lens (canon 50mm 1.8f). I have been dying to photograph some great portraits with this particular lens. My darling little niece came over, and I HAD to get out my camera! Lots of times, I find that parents struggle with getting their kids to smile in a session. I find that they tell the kid to say “cheese” and it produces a really fake forced look from most kids. I have heard many times from parents how they look back at the images and feel it was too “forced.” I take...

Why The Soldiers Miss Home..

For the Full Album click the photo: Erica Click here for Slideshow! I’m getting better… I just know it! It has been a long road to becoming closer to the photographer that I have wanted to be, I’m not there yet, but I am better today than I was yesterday. My good friend Jack Husting put it (and I paraphrase) “last years me can’t touch the new and improved Kanoa!” Photography is an art, and just like any good art, it takes time to develop and improve your craft. I took my longtime friend (she’s basically family to me) Erica Clark, who came in town after driving across the US to get here...
