In case you are wondering… I’m an actual media source… Kanoautler.com is a blog that not only allows you to see my photography, but also it is a way for me to cover events that are happening mostly in the bay area but really everywhere and anywhere I am. So when I had the opportunity to shoot under Vincit Magazine to cover the IFK Muay Thai Championship at the Thunder Valley Casino I jumped on it! Being a huge advocate of fight sports I always enjoy the opportunity to see the test of skill and agility and wits it’s a physical chess match of nonstop action!
Right from the start it was fireworks and it ended in a bang! Each fighter came out and left it all out on the table. What I enjoy about Muay Thai is the second dimension in striking; its not just boxing but the element of being able to use your legs to strike adds an extra bit of action. Each fight fought with heart and passion, which was displayed in every one of the fights. I was like taking 4 shots of espresso and only feeling the crash when the fights ended. The lighting was very dramatic in terms of how the interacted with the images and if you look at how I shot I didn’t look to just get pictures that got perfect freeze frames but I aimed to capture the feel and emotion of the fight. In many moments it felt like I was in a movie because of all the lights and music and the crowd that came together to create the added dimension to this event. Truly spectacular performances that were energy filled that I was proud to be a contributor there.
The fight that caught my eye the most was the super heavy weight fight that Team Black’s Xavier Vigney was the victor. After a few round of slugging it out, Big X out wit, out lasted, and out struck his opponent ultimately winning the belt. Congrats to Xavier and all the other winners that night at the Championship!
